I’m no stranger to being a stranger.

Growing up with my parents in the Air Force, there were many moves and new starts. When I picked up books during this time, it felt like each book pounded into my brain that even in these fictional worlds every Anne had her Diana and each Frodo had his Sam. 

It seemed like everyone had found their “bosom friend,” and I was the only person floundering in friendships. 

This is why I write. I want to show kids the “pre-bosom-friend” era so that they understand they aren’t alone and that it is possible for them to find their Diana.
